shift knob refinish?

shift knob refinish?

So the knob (03 AP1) has small scratches and pit like marks on it from previous owners. Any way to DIY repair/refinish with out ruining the leather? Or am I replacing with a new OEM or aftermarket? Thanks for any info and insight!
