Thanks for the clarity
Cusco and Giken are good brands.

Product information from the product page: https://shop.quaife.co.uk/honda-s200...d-differential
Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential for the Honda S2000. A direct replacement for the standard open differential, the Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential transforms your car’s performance. Unlike a conventional plate-style limited slip differential, the Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential relies on gears rather than clutch plates for its operation. That means it is much smoother in operation. The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential never locks harshly with a set pre-load of wheel slip across the driven axle, like a conventional LSD. Rather, the Quaife ATB differential automatically biases the torque away from the spinning wheel across the axle, to a constantly varying degree, and never locks. The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential has many benefits over a standard open differential, including maximising traction and minimizing wheel spin, eliminating torque steer and snatching in front wheel drive cars compared to conventional LSD units, and a maintenance-free design which retains the standard oil lubrication. The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential is proven in circuit and drag racing, rallying and road use, and is produced from Corus steel billets, and is CAD designed and CNC machined, then inspected to ISO 9001 standards. With over 250 applications - the Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential is the best option to utilise your cars performance. Quaife ATB Helical LSD differentials are used by Ford, General Motors and Daimler-Chrysler as original equipment. The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential is also now subject to a lifetime warranty (subject to terms and conditions). This product is available direct from QUAIFE, please confirm your application using the attached technical drawing.
Hold up! I'm disappointed in Quaife's description - "...direct replacement for the open differential.."??? We do not have open diffs lol.

Regarding boost: I ran a blower on my Silverstone S2K and it had the stock Torsen. Never had issues or felt it lacked the strength to cope with nearly 400HP. the diff as a whole (ring and pinion, crown wheel, etc) held up fine however this is an area that needs TLC because as we know with really high torque thru the drivetrain it can take a hammering that will cause it to eventually whine and break in the worst case. Fluid quality and type is more crucial at high power levels. Clutch type is important too. Puck clutches will wear down your diff (possibly gearbox) too.

From Puddymod: "The Quaife is stronger and has a much more positive feel and lock than the stock unit. It holds better and is more stable especially with high horse power." I just sent an email to Quaife UK for a list of features/improvements over the OEM S2000 differential.

Also, Spoon makes a 1.75 way differential.

Interesting. Holler back with their response.

1.75 way? that's interesting! So perhaps more lock is achieved during braking compared to a 1.5 way...

Response from Quaife UK:
"Yes, the S2000 has a Torsen diff in it anyway, but the main difference with the ATB diff is the way in which the planet pinions are arranged around the sun gears.
In a Torsen diff they are perpendicular to the sun gears, whereas in an ATB diff they are parallel to them, which means we can fit more pinions around the sun gears, meaning more tooth contact, which ultimately is the deciding factor in how strong the diff is.
Otherwise the function, or the principle behind the function, is the same; it biases torque to the wheel with most grip, and never locks up."

If anyone is interested in buying a Quaife LSD, buying it directly from them using Transferwise is the cheapest option and is lower than what I can get them for in the US.

Yes, that is Spoon’s way of noting it will lock more on deceleration than the typical 1.5 way. My understanding is that the Spoon diff is a Cusco unit tuned to their specs.

So essentially the same as out stock unit but stronger due to more teeth meshing with the sun gears. Nice!

Ah I see. Cool thing with the famous JDM brands like Spoon and J's is that they use other famous JDM brands to build specialised products for them like LSD's and wings (J's uses Voltex to make their wings for them last I heard).
