here's some pads comparison

- top is Carbotech XP12
- bottom is OEM s2000
Notice the Carbotech pad has a curved radius towards the hat and the OEM does not. the Carbotech pad also has a large surface area.

- top is 787, 03-07 Accord V6
- second down is 503, 98-02 Accord V6
- third down is Carbotech XP12 S2000
- forth down is OEM S2000
it looks like the initial surface area of the 503 pad is larger because it doesn't have taper edge like the 787 pad.

did some tracing of the pads for comparison

pad surface area, 787 vs. 503.

backing plate. 787 vs. 503. looks like you can physically swap the pads but one will move the pad out farther.

pad surface area, 787 vs. 829 (s2000 pad)
not only the surface area is larger but the Accord pad is also thicker at 17.3mm vs. 15.8 mm. that means that i can probably go a whole race season on one set of pads and rotors. that would be so awesome

I wonder if Carbotech's 787 pads have more contact area than stock 787s like on the S2000 Carbotech pads.

Since the Accord caliper piston is already extended when used with S2000 rotors we could have Carbotech make our pads a few mm's thicker to take up that room and last longer. They're pretty cool about making the pads the way you want them.

i'm very excited about this. hopefully this will solve the problems of rotors cracking at the track.

You only have the spare mm on one side...

And that's the idea behind the accord ring on the S2K hat from RB - wider/thicker rotor, so wide vanes with meaty surfaces. Should only need a washer to space the bracket to be centered on the rotor.

NSX rotor Nearly perfect. 2 issues.

- Need about a 1/16" shim between bracket and knuckle to center. A washer would probably so but, I don't trust washers.

- Barely touches the inside of the wheel.

I'm going to shim the bracket and trim the outside of this caliper to make the rotor and caliper work. It's very close with no shimming.

Both the Type-R and the CL pads work interchangably in this caliper. The CL pad is just a touch taller.

Rotor is 28mm thick and 11.74" tall. Post my pics up in the topic if you wish. Cheapest place to get the rotor is Majestic honda. Napa is $30 more expensive but, it's just an OEM rotor.

If the Accord calipers aren't centered with stock S2000 rotors why would they be centered on the RB S2000 hats and Accord rings?
