Default ACT rigid hub organic clutch disc I had made

I wanted to try running a rigid hub street disc but I couldn't find anyone who produced one for the S2000 application. The main objectives were less rotational mass and to see if it would tame the clutch buzz that plague so many aftermarket discs. ACT was easy to work with and whipped one up for me within a couple weeks. They've created a part number for it so anyone else can order one too. I've not got around to installing it yet but I'll report back on how it drives within the next month or two if things go as planned.

Part # 3000125

It has a marcel spring so engagement shouldn't be too bad.

Have anything useful to add?

Porsche has been using the same style disc for a while now.

By all means i'm sure it's a great disc. But i can't say your driveline will thank you for going with a clutch that sends 100% of the shock of engagement to it.

It has been considered. I've torn up enough drivetrain parts over the years to learn how not to drive like an idiot. My diff has 180,000 enthusiastic miles on it so if it shatters I won't be heart broken. Just an opportunity to build a better one.

I believe Wadzii is a big proponent of unsprung clutch disks. I was thinking of doing the same thing to tame the buzz on my ACT six-puck, but went with the OEM disk instead.

I was close to going unsprung but took the safer route, based on what I read in the forums.
I didn’t feel like having to go in there a third time if I ended up unhappy with it again.

I’ll be interested in hearing how you like it.

Well, it's been a long time since I though about this post... The clutch ended up being fantastic! Bad news is I only got to put around 1000km on it before I lost the motor and ended up leaving the car in Germany when my AF assignment rotated. I plan to run it again the next time I need to replace a clutch. The feel was more direct and immediate but the engagement was just like stock. It was between a stock FCC pressure plate and an ACT prolite flywheel. There was still some resonance noise coming through the transmission but nothing as bad as the clutch buzz I had on an old Competition Clutch.
