Default Aftermarket Seat Rail Questions...quick Q's...

Hello:

For folks who've purchased the aftermarket seat rails (lowers the driver seat by 1 inch), I've got a few quick questions...

Does the seat slide back as far as the stock seat? I'm 6'2" (220lbs), and usually slide the seat all the way back.

With the stock seat my left knee nudges against the steering wheel. If I move the seat up a notch or two, my left knee will nudge against the dash. Will the aftermarket seat rails alleviate these issues?

I know it's only about a 1 inch drop, but does it help out a lot for the folks who are 6'+??

I know that seat rails have been discussed before, but not sure if my 2nd question has been addressed...

THANKS!!

are you talking about the bys rail for the stock seat or are you referring to the rails (bride, buddy club, taitec, etc) that go with an aftermarket seat (recaro, bride, sparco, etc)?

I have the rail from sinu design...I think that's the name. It drops the seat by about an inch. I've just about the same size as you. 6'1" 220 34/35 waist and it has been awesome. If you can't move the seat all the way back you only loose one click or two tops. I've got noticeably more room. At a recent meet here a couple others sat in it and commented how much better it was than stock.

the answer to all your questions is yes. I'm 6'2" 190lbs. and i had problems with i.e. getting to a stoplight and not seeing the damn thing when it turns green, getting in the car without messing up the side bolster. IMO one of the best mods I've done to the car.

BYS FTW!

You can accomplish the same effect with the stock rails. Remove the seat, and remove the bottom cushion. Take a hammer and pound the rear bottom cushion tabs down as low as you'd like (I have mine about 1/2" off the floor). Now, you need to take one of the bolt holes and turn it into a slot. You need to slot one bracket because the bolt holes will be too wide to align with the seat bottom studs if you don't. I did this with a dremel and a cutting disk, very easy. Bolt the seat bottom back in, and reinstall the seat. Did this over a year ago, and it works great.

Thanks everyone for the responses. It seems like lowering the seat by 1" had a significant impact.

"JDR159 " by taking your approach, can you slide the seat up and down? Just curious...

thx
