If a part is available at the distributor it goes out right away, but if your part is not at the distributor you could wait a long time.
Your replies to other HTG threads was something I read and understood during my 4 month waiting and hoping experience with HTG until I experienced my own order being completely fulfilled.

He does see the parts, because he physically pack his own parts for shipping. For my order to Australia, he used both USPS EMI and FedEx on different shipments. On the FedEx shipment, I had physical proof that the parts were picked up from the Cleveland Acura dealership.

But he definitely suffers the peril of what Honda America has in stock or otherwise. I understand he orders from a central Honda America parts depot which serves all the parts around the country for all Honda/Acura dealerships. If the parts are not available in country, they are no doubt on backorder from Honda Japan. Then the long lead time begins.

Fact is, he does not inform his customers on the backorder, fails to communicate and at times he does push for excuses when you ring him, at other times before you make an order, he will make remarks that everything is in stock or has a very short wait/turnaround time. He does not physically confirm (well he can't really, he has to order the part(s) using his own money in hope that the enquiry will translate into a sale which is impossible for a one man operation).

Above all he also has no control of the ETA from Honda Japan to Honda America then to the dealership before he physically inspects what he's ordered before repacking it for shipping to the Hardtopguy.com customer. What is regrettable is his inadequate communication and honestly on true lead times, as he knows, giving a bad ETA often means no sale. Let's face it, nobody likes to wait for anything, when a customer parts with their money, they expect instant turnaround and will not accept anything less.

Being international is not an excuse, if a business cannot adapt and integrate into globalization trade, they should not be in the business of attempting to do so to begin with. Transit time as an excuse is merely nothing more than an excuse and poor business practice.

If FedEx/UPS/DHL can turnaround a package from pickup of any major city to anywhere major city in the world in 48 hours on the highest priority service, there is no excuse for taking infinite time to get something from end of the world to another, it's only the level of service and how much one is willing to pay to get what they want on a timely basis.

so it had been 3weeks since order, so I decided to open a paypal dispute last night, to provoke a reaction.
obviously had the desired effect as I received email with lodged tracking number this morning.

and a message saying that there was an error in the software and it was marked as not having received the money.

all is good. It is a bit misleading tho that the site states 3-7days for international express, and I paid over $150 for this service and doesn't mention or advise of delays.
I think in future I'll just pay the inflated prices from my dealership if i need anything quick.

I ordered a ap2 bumper, tow hook cover and grill and just was curious when he would ship it. So I emailed him...

From: Me [mailto:blah@blah.com]
Sent: Tuesday, May 11, 2010 8:10 AM
To: sales@hardtopguy.com
Subject:

Order id: #10036

I ordered a Bumper and Accessories on Friday 5/7/10. I was wondering when the item will ship or if you can provide a tracking number if it has already been shipped.

Thanks!

His reply...

Subject: RE:

I have the bumper here. I’m waiting for the other pieces to arrive from Honda. I should be shipping today or tomorrow.

Thanks,

HardtopGuy.com Sales Staff

I then called him yesterday 10/17/10 to ask the status.

He says the exact same thing in he wrote in the email a week ago.

"I'm waiting for the tow hook cover to come in. It should be here today or tomorrow. I will ship your stuff when I get it."

I don't know if its just me but it seems like he just doesn't want to tell people that it's going to take awhile for him to receive the parts. He just promises that it "should" be coming in today and he'll ship it when he gets it. I totally understand he's a busy guy but an honest answer and a better eta on when I will receive my stuff should be better.

I've had nothing but good experiences with HTG.... until now.

I'm in the same situation. We'll see what he has to say about my order...

Interesting How everyone has a different experience with this guy. I phoned him about a hard top and some other parts and I have to say it was a plesant transaction. I drove 7 hrs. to pick up my stuff and he even asked if I was interested in a quick tour of Cleveland. It was to say the least a great day. and he has a nice NSX in the drive way . GO JEFF!

You could also try in the future hondapartscheap.com and hondapartsnow.com.
+1

3 weeks ago I sent an inquiry to HTG and to Hondapartscheap. I am still waiting for the answer from HTG (I still hope to get the answer some day even thought I already got the parts from hondapartscheap)

Hondapartscheap also ship outside the US.
