My '06 came with a hacked up stock exhaust. po chopped off the flange and welded an aftermarket ebay junk cat directly to the stock catback. Cheap cat broke apart. So I needed a new cat and catback quick. All I could find fs was an '04 stock catvack, and ap1 cat. Both fit fine.

The '04 still has the round Helmholtz, and there is indeed less clearance to frame than '06+ oval one. But its no problem. Had it on there several years and over 45k miles.

The ap1 cat also fits, just has o2 sensor in slightly different location, but stock wires still reach.

All systems, all cats, fit all years. Slight hanger differences, also ap1 where tips mount is slightly shorter than ap2.

The AP2 exhaust is installed in my car even though it is an AP1 car. What gasket would I use at the joint after the catalytic converter? I can hear it leaks at that joint.

I believe from the cat to the exhaust is just a regular tri gasket right?I installed my ap2 exhaust again in the beginning of the year so im a bit hazzy on it. If you call up your stealership they can order you one or they might even have one in stock. I just reused an ap1 gasket for the longest time and I dont hear any leaks. But a small exhaust leak isnt that big of an issue so I wouldnt really worry about it.

It is possible that the exhaust has a bend to it or somthing, so I would just use gasket maker and not a solid gasket for the best seal such as
Amazon Amazon
But a exhaust leak isnt anything to really worry about if its behind the o2 sensor imo. Highly doubt it creates enough back pressure to cause any problems.
