This is 100% illegal in CA.

You cannot use a non-oem cat within the warranty period with the possible exception of theft and then you need a police report on the theft and a letter from the installer. If outside the warranty period (which is 7+ years) you need a letter saying your old one was defective.

That's the legal side, but honestly it would be a cold day in hell for you to get caught with this on.

AND I will be ordering one... Tomorrow.
So technically it is illegal, but the real question I think everyone wants to know is - how can you possibly get caught for this? If a police officer pulls you over, looks under your car, and notices that it is a non-OEM cat? It will pass smog, right, so there is no other way you can get caught than the above scenario?

Just want to make sure, since I'm a little paranoid about these things... (stupid California )

Also, what type of whp gain can be expected if this is combined with a header and exhaust? Thanks

It sounds like what he's saying is that an OEM cat flows 43% as well as a test pipe (meaning the test pipe flows 57% better than the OEM cat). T
No, the test pipe flows nearly 200% better then the OEM. Not 57%.

So has anyone here installed this yet?

I'm primarily interested in whether it will (1) throw a CEL on a 2006 model and (2) reduce drone on an aftermarket exhaust.

This sounds promising...
