yeah, pretty surprising, but a few owners of the seibon weighed them at 30-31lbs.

btw, you spelled aluminum wrong. oem hardtop also comes with rear defroster. you can also state that trunk cannot open all the way, in most cases, with the mugen hardtops

if mugen is dry carbon, why does it weigh more than the seibon?

prepreg carbon is much lighter than a wet system.

that's why i need someone to confirm whether or not the mugen is dry or wet CF. I've read numerous threads talking about how the Mugen is a pretty penny and isn't dry CF... whereas the Amuse being one of the very few (if only) dry CF hardtop.

yea i definately THINK the mugen is going to be wet, if it was dry it would weigh less than the seibon because i know seibons uses a wet system..hopefully someone that chimes in has spoken to mugen or something and knows for sure.

im sure its a wet system though just by looking at weight

Not sure why the seibon weighs more, maybe the rear glass/polycarbonate? I've heard Aj racing and e-auto, two reputable vendors on the forum, say that the mugen cf hardtop is dry carbon. I've even helped William from e-auto take his on and off and looking at it from the inside, it looks like unfinished dry carbon, similiar to the non clear coated dry carbon gurney flap my wing has. Also, doesn't the spoon hardtop come in dry carbon as well?

Also, do those weights listed in the original post count the latches connected to the top?

Mistman-From what I've seen on the few mugen hardtops that I've come across, they were not able to open their trunks all the way. Not because they cannot physically do so, but because the edge of the trunk would come into contact with the back section of the mugen hardtop

The OEM Softop is not canvas. In fact, it is made of vinyl. The canvas tops are available aftermarket like the one I bought from Robbins.

I don't like "official" threads with incorrect info, so I had to say something. FYI.

The point is to get to the right info, so it's a good thing you did!

The hardware (latches, strikers, washers, weather stripping, etc..) that comes with my Mugen CF hardtop, weighs more than the entire hardtop.
