I had the Honda dealership take alook at it, they managed to clean it off and they were able to screw it on. Those aftermarket knobs were chewing the threading out of it pretty bad, they said I shouldn't have to worry about it now.

Thanks for the help regarding the issue, I'm lucky I didn't have to replace the shifter...
