one volcanic eruption produces more of those deadly gases that all of humanity has created in our existence on this earth.

So no. A test pipe doesn't bother me at all. That said, my car is currently all stock. Though I have run test pipes in the past on other cars and they provide good power and feel, enough that when i bought a 'high flow cat' to replace it i was sorely disappointed and went back to the test pipe.

It's a stinky and perhaps fruitless choice, but I cannot see how in the world it involves ethics or morals.

Are you implying the moral implication via the suggestion of environmental damage?

Dang, that's a big bowl that most all folks float in...anyone who does the following is immoral with that guideline:
- driving a car with an engine bigger than 1.8L
- using disposable utensils
- birthday party with balloons
- taking vacations with family when you could stay home (fuel savings)
- washing your car (water waste and supporting chemical manufacture)
- more than 1 television in your house (oprah more important than electricity)
- disposable diapers
- driving anywhere that is not required for income, work, or family sustainment
etc, etc, etc

The above things are not needed, not required, but folks do them for enjoyment or convenience...much like pulling off the cat ehh?

Is it unethical because the doer breaks the law?
Welcome to another big soup bowl:
- speeding
- prohibition
- civil rights
- women's sufferage

All horrible ethics breakers?

For the record, I am a bone stock kinda guy. The cat is on and the car looks exactly like it came from lot on day 1 (nothing removed, nothing added)...so I am not trying to justify my own actions with the above thoughts.

first, i am 100% stock.

i dont care much for global warming as i dont think we have enough evidence to prove anything--we can support the hypotheses, but a hypothesis, with or without support, is not conclusive.

on the other hand, i understand smog and don't like it, so i see arguments to cut that down.

problem is, i have the unfortunate view that i can be among the exceptions to the general rule if circumstances are such that only a few people want to be exceptions. the problem starts when a large percentage of people feel it necessary to be the exception. but i don't think the majority of americans feel removing the cat for any reason is a good idea, so it's not going to hurt too bad if a few folks do. driving and keeping up a '60s muscle car will likely do similar damage, and again, as only a few people do that, the impact is rather limited.

I'm keeping my cat on...not worth the extra couple of ponies since I'm pretty much stock. I can't stand the stink of going catless...
