It's a stinky and perhaps fruitless choice, but I cannot see how in the world it involves ethics or morals.

Are you implying the moral implication via the suggestion of environmental damage?

Dang, that's a big bowl that most all folks float in...anyone who does the following is immoral with that guideline:
- driving a car with an engine bigger than 1.8L
- using disposable utensils
- birthday party with balloons
- taking vacations with family when you could stay home (fuel savings)
- washing your car (water waste and supporting chemical manufacture)
- more than 1 television in your house (oprah more important than electricity)
- disposable diapers
- driving anywhere that is not required for income, work, or family sustainment
etc, etc, etc

The above things are not needed, not required, but folks do them for enjoyment or convenience...much like pulling off the cat ehh?

Is it unethical because the doer breaks the law?
Welcome to another big soup bowl:
- speeding
- prohibition
- civil rights
- women's sufferage

All horrible ethics breakers?

For the record, I am a bone stock kinda guy. The cat is on and the car looks exactly like it came from lot on day 1 (nothing removed, nothing added)...so I am not trying to justify my own actions with the above thoughts.

I have no idea what the test pipe smell is everybodys talking about. I gained 8whp on a back to back dyno and no smell or cel. Car sounds exactly the same too. Best 100 bucks I ever spent.

Smell isn't too bad I kinda liked it haha. I loved the idle and lower rpm sound with my Invidia v3 and testpipe but the raspiness in the high end and wot drove me nuts. Took it off and went back to stock cat.

If I put a cat on I'd lose 30 hp.

i don't think there's a significant gain between test pipe and high flow cat in N/A application but there is a big gain in force induction application.

i've alway use high flow cat on all my cars, turbo and N/A.

for those who asked, the smell is like rotten eggs from the sulfur.

I don't dare risk the consequences with the authorities, and I don't know how you guys even try to get away with it. Once a cop gets behind you the smell is soooo obvious there is no getting away. The risk is too high in my opinion.

As an alternative, the new High Flow Cat (HFC) from Berk yields nearly the same numbers and is street legal. If I had to replace my cat again I'd go that way for sure.
