i don't think there's a significant gain between test pipe and high flow cat in N/A application but there is a big gain in force induction application.

i've alway use high flow cat on all my cars, turbo and N/A.

for those who asked, the smell is like rotten eggs from the sulfur.
thanks I was hoping someone would explain the smell like this my old tacoma smelled like that stock so I guess It wont bother me

8hp along with that berk header though right?
no, 8whp gain with nothing else. the entire car was stock when I put the test pipe on. I didn't get a chance to before and after dyno the header.

Wow... some of the responses amaze me here. Trying to say putting test pipe is a minimal thing to do when some other shit eruption or unethical actions are worse and everybody's doing it is just pathetic. Saying there's no evidence of global warming, thus I'm removing Cat is also retarded. It doesn't even matter if you believe in global warming or staying with those anti-global warming dudes, but at least you should know removing your Cat does let out more harmful gas to the environment. I honestly don't care if people put it on for race purposes (btw TP IS strongly recommended for race ONLY) and these gains are especially important to you, but putting it on for daily drive just bothers people. Hell convince me that you love it when someone driving in front of you have a testpipe on. Props to those who are using HFC.

I hate being behind a stank ride, be it an American made with ring problems, a pig truck, or a missing cat.

I would not say the 'ethical' examples I listed are any worse (or any better) than the removal of a cat.

I am just saying that anyone who condemns the removal of a cat, yet does any of the other items in my list is hypocritical.

i think vik means removing the cat not removing the testpipe... right?

i describe the smell of a testpipe as that smell that you encounter when you just started your car in the morning and everything is dead cold and your cat hasn't yet worked because its not heated up yet... but 10x worse....

btw, berk testpipe is 87% the efficiency of the testpipe so its a pretty good substitute.

they say you can reduce drone by putting a test pipe on a spoon n1 exhaust.

While I do have my cat in, I wouldn't hesitate to remove it even on a DD if I was going turbo for example.

My reasoning is that I just don't care. Outside, right now, there are probably thousands of people clamoring and whining for change on an international level to combat global warming. In my eyes, all they are doing is ruining a hobby that I love dearly by forcing automakers to adapt to progressively higher standards of fuel economy. And as we all know, good fuel economy = slow and no fun to drive. Therefore, I would do it just to spite them all really. Keep in my I still do have my cat in, but I would remove it.

Besides, the global warming advocates are all up in arms about average temperature rising fractions of a degree every 10 years or somethign silly like that. To that I have to say that 1) I hate the winter and throughly enjoy warm weather, so please bring it on 2) A fraction increase is not noticeable 3) I think it is most likely that the world will run out of oil and gas before we are able to do any kind of major damage to the atmosphere. With gas prices climbing as they have been anyway, it might just become to expensive to have widespread pollution anway.

Summary:

Summer > Winter

Word.

Anyone here remember the four major Ice Ages?

No? I guess cause we weren't there.

How did we get from the Ice Age to here?

Gasp!! Global Warming!!!

There are cave scratchings by Algar Gorbar, an ancient cave dweller, warning what would happen if the Flintstones removed their cats.

Wait a second...I thought Global Warming was man made? Who melted the ice age?

We need to thank them, if not for their warming skillz none of us would be here now.
