cooling plates

the whole point is to just direct air into the radiator. stock one is fine. I just liked the look of aluminum. most aftermarket ones have a vent near the airbox location to allow more air through, but if u don't have the factory airbox it's actually better to get a flat cover. more air to the radiator.
The primary purpose of a cooling plate is to contain air so that it flows through the radiator.....-Aaron

Chris, just get a thermostat, fan switch, and rad cap if cooling is what you're looking for. I'm sure the plates do something, but IMO they are worthless.

I know you said, "IMO," but I disagree. I've had the AUT first with the stock box and now the FIPK. If nothing else, they're great for laying tools on.
i'm sure BYS has better quality, but for this piece i don't think it would matter. the AUT's quality was great, it's the exact same as the BYS piece, and it was a perfect fit. the BYS is not worth what you pay for it when you have access to an AUT, unless you want sticker rights

no they are not "exact same" however, they are very similar. i agree the BYS cost too much compared to the AUT, but whatever.
