I don't see how the mesh would be any easier to clean than the tube or air filter. The tube is going to get dirty with or without the screen, so you'll have to remove the screen to clean it whenever you wash the car. The screen will get beat up over time.

You could very well be right. I will try and make the screen easy to remove so that way if i do not like the idea i can just leave it off.

Just something i was wondering about. Before starting this project I asked my mechanic about the inspection issue only having 1 high beam. As most of you know he said it would need (2) working high beams to pass. Instead of switching out the entire light every time for inspection maybe he will let me get away with just mounting up the bulb and setting it in the tube. I would probably be able to make it fixed with something so when the car is in motion it wouldn't move around. So yea he wouldn't be able to say it didn't work lol.

Looking good Bang0!

Might suggest the mesh on the backside of the light so it is easier to remove and clean and you won't end up with bug guts on the inside of the tube. Just wrapped the end of the tube with the mesh and clamp it on when you connect the duct to it.

This is probably what i will end up doing depending on how well the mesh holds up on the outside...

I apologize for anyone that has been really interested in seeing my final outcome. I had some personal things to take care of recently so i have not been on at all. The car is now in storage (My garage) for the winter. I do plan on finishing this project (and starting a few more )sometime over this winter but at the moment i couldn't give you a date.

Again, thanks for the interest and i will soon get my butt back in gear to finish this damn thing.

I will be cutting a hole in the end of this filter and dropping a velocity stack into it The end of the velocity stack will have to be covered with filter material in order to keep out debri. I will then slip a silicone reducer over the end of the filter that will extend into the fender and bend into the headlight to pull the air.
