Default Cutting some of the shifter thread?

Has anyone ever tried cutting off about 1" of the thread on the shifter?

I recently installed the Moddiction shift knob but am returning it. I love the stock knob but would like it to sit lower.

Thoughts?

Just get the skunk knob or something. Looks similar to stock. I wouldn't get into cutting stuff since it's permanent.

Is the skunk knob counter sunk so it will sit lower?

Do not cut threads off your shifter. I dont belive the skunk2 is countersunk. Hopefully today I should be receiving my Maven Teardrop Countersunk knob from HeelToe Automotive. They have stock height ones, and 1" countersunk ones. They are also over 1lb, almost double the weight of stock. Here is a thread to them. The first ones arent countersunk, and when you see the pic of one installed with the red stitch shift boot, thats them. Right below those pics it has the info for them. I only paid $58 shipped to me, hell of a deal. When I get it I can take pics for you and do a review of it against my Voodoo countersunk knob if you like.

True true.

I love the stock knob. Nothing else. I guess I'll wait to see what short shifters are available and reviews on them.

I see. Just so you know, most short shifters dont actually lower the height of the shifter, it just shortens the throws. If I remember right, the C's short shifter lowers it a little bit, but they are pretty expensive.

I don't care about lowering the height just shortening the throw. I actually like the height of the stock shifter.

Ohh okay, it just seemed like you were interested in lowering the shift knob. Well in that case yeah just keep the stock shifter if you like it, and do some research on short shifters. Soon Moddiction is going to be coming out with a really nice one.

That's what I'm waiting for as well. Price seems high but we'll see initial fitment, quality, and reviews.

I cut my shifter a while ago. Maybe .5" .75" or so off. Easy way to lower it even more.
Of course can't undo that though.
A countersunk shift knob or short shifter is a much better alternative.
