wow cool, that should take care of his concerns and mine....

At the same time, in the event of a theft the person would probably not notice or find the truck release button quickly enough. Just think it would have to be a quick in and out to in order for a thief to get away with it after the alarm sounding off. They would have to be familiar with the s2k to know where the button is right away and in that case I think they would be after bigger things then just a sound system.

just my 2 cents, the modifry mod is cool and all, but if they want to get in your trunk, they'd just pop your trunk man.

it's about layer of protection, they can tow your can sideway but it doesn't mean you shouldn't lock your car at all.

alot of later miata owner remove their trunk cable so the trunk release will not work, some owner never lock the car in fear of sliced top, they just throw everything in a bag and lock it in the trunk everytime.

doesnt the Valet key NOT unlock the glove compartment?

The simple solution is to put an on/off switch inline with the power wire going to the trunk release switch. Mount the switch in the trunk and you'll need to run the wire up to the release button. when the switch is in the off position no current will flow to the release button so the button will be disabled.

You know the thing I don't really understand is that why does people like to slash convertible top? I think sometimes it's just for fun/hate & most for stealing. Why won't they just do it the conventional way and break the window? Replacing windows is a lot cheaper than a top. Is it that much easier to get into someone cars by slashing their top? Damn thieves!

^^it's wayyyy more quiet to slash the top, and I'd imagine that is the key the thieves are after.
