Default Do I NEED Wheel Locks and Seat Locks?

New S2000 owner here.
I have read a few posts recommending these.
My car is garaged, I don't live in a high crime area, nor leave the car unattended for long periods of time.
I do plan to get an alarm system with a remote and motion sensor.

Am I wasting my money or are these a must-have?

Personally, I think that anything that can protect my car from theft, is not a waste of money.

Your call to make. Garages don't stop thieves and "not living in a high crime area" doesn't mean that you're not susceptible. Seat locks are definitely a must have in Houston.

seat locks yes- wheel locks don't hurt but they are usually easy to get past.

i have wheel locks, seat locks, and a paging alarm. i drive the car 3-4 times a month, it helps with ease a little. instead of taking 5 minutes to take the seats out, you might give the potential theif a few more minutes of trouble, but it might stop a thief who doesn't want to deal with the seat locks

i dont see the point of seat locks. when they see those bolts they will get pissed and they gonna rip the hell out of your interior. you are going to end up paying more than just for a seat or two, your choice......

seat locks=YES, wheel locks=waste. Alarm=absolutly. Even living in a gated community is not any security. A freinds Honda Odyssey was stolen out a gated high end community and was never recovered.

Gorilla wheel locks seem to be the way to go according to recommendations here.

That's what all the anti-theft deterrent people say, but there is no proof that that has ever happened.

A thief usually steals for money or to get the item, not to just ruin someones day.

Any anti-theft item can be defeated. If someone wants to take your car, they will. Even if they just tow it away...

That said, you just want to make the thief pass over your car for someone else that is easier to get into. Having a car with a fabric top, its already pretty easy to gain entry.

So, seat locks are good step, detachable stereo face, wire in a secret kill switch on the clutch pedal so it won't start even if they "hot wire" it.

Essentially, make trying to steal from you a pain in the ass. Don't keep your theft deterants a secret. Flaunt the alarm sticker and seat lock stickers. Hell, I'd even put a surveillance sign or a dummy camera up where you normally park your car.

Again, a tow truck would trump any of these things... but it could be worth it.
