Here is a link to one of the site sponsers site for the VAFC

In short is a small piggyback device that allows you to pull fuel and lower vtec engagement point.

I also agree with Gernby in that since you are new i would spend a little time researching mods and even what these cars are capable of. then plan out what your goal is for the car. These are def not your typical honda. welcome and enjoy.

I currently have installed:
Invidia 70mm N1 Catback
Invidia 70mm testpipe

and it screams! There is a semi-proven method for success what it comes to NA exhaust mods. It's:

1: Great Header (PLM, J's, Toda, Hytech)
2: test pipe, 70mm (some argue a high flow cat is just as good)
3: 70mm catback, dual or single.

General agreement is that you get little to no horsepower from the catback, but you can save 30-50 pounds, and make the car sound nicer. The test pipe is the most important thing, as the cat is very restrictive. Some people see +5whp peak with just the test pipe on the stock exhaust. Then the header is the last piece. The PLM is what a lot of people are going with. It's a J's replica and cost $400. It doesn't quite make the HP a J's or Hytech does, but the price difference is huge.

As stated above, even going PLM ($400) testpipe( $100) and a cheap catback (Invidia, $600) you are looking at $1100 for maybe 15whp.

Or you could but a nice set of 4.77 gears and still be quicker. Just figure out your goal. If you are going FI, you may need different parts.

Wow, I really appreciate all the info on this.

I'm not really looking for power, I'm not a big racer.
However, I do like the sound, with a little extra power.

RSR GT2 is my favorite sounding exhaust.
So I guess i'll be going with the RSR gt2, Invidia 70mm Test-Pipe, and the PLM headers.

Anyone agree that's a good choice?

Thats funny when you say that cus that doesn't help the OP. Your only telling him to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on the "REAL parts."

Try that combination, if you find out you don't like. Take it off and sell it's all trial and error Plus that's the fun part of modding a car in general "trial and error."

Soon you'll find out which one fits your preference the most.

If you are mainly interested in sound, and not really performance, then that REALLY changes the math. I believe the stock header will sound the best, since it is the heaviest (thickest piping), and it has heat shields. Most headers will increase valve noise due to the thin pipe walls. The test pipe may sound better or worse, depending on your taste in sound. Test pipes change the raspiness, sound level, and drone of whatever exhaust you have. I suggest getting a cheap non-resonated TP off eBay just so you can do a before / after comparison to determine which sounds best with your exhaust. One thing that SUCKS about test pipes is that they will cause the back of your car to collect black soot quickly,. Basically, you don't ever want your dress pants to brush your back bumper even 1 day after a wash, or it will leave black marks on your pants.

Not necessarily. I have a test pipe and I never get that "black soot"
