Which fly wheel?
I have a competition stage 2 clutch that's going in soon. I have a couple dollars left over and going to buy a fly wheel because why not.
But I'm in question of which to get the light weight competition or ultra light weight?
What's the perks of having ultra over the regular besides weight?

I don't like super light flywheels for street use. The stock AP1 flywheel is as light as I'd want. I used to have an Exedy hyper single clutchset. It was great on track, and terrible on the street lol.
But a lot of it is personal preference.

I would go with ap1 flywheel if you can find one cheap. That being said it have a fidenza lightweight flywheel the only reason i have this is because it got it for free and after spending $60 on new inserts i basically got a new flywheel. I have no complaints with it it does make rev matching really easy.
Running the ACT ultralight flywheel with the oem clutch and pp feels great on my ap1, I believe it is around 8.6 lbs., no complaints here. It took one launch to get used to it, and that's it. If I had gone with something like 11 lbs I don't think that is enough of a change on an ap1, maybe on an ap2.
I think most people who complain about light flywheels are the ones who run them with aggressive clutch/pp setups. If you run an oem clutch and pp an ultralight fly should be good.

A lot of it is personal preference, as I said. But...FWIW, my dislike of very light flywheels comes from multiple types of clutches.
Hyper single on a S2000, Exedy OE on B16A2 civic, Exedy stage 1 on a B18C-R civic, Exedy stage 2 on my K24A2 ITR which makes elephants of torque. All of them had (have) between 8 and 9.5LB chromoly steel flywheels.
Great for the track. Didn't like it on the street. The Exedy stage 1 and OE setups were more driveable than the agressive clutches. But...that's more because of the clutch than the flywheel.
I didn't like the RPM drop between normal shifts. That's almost purely a function of light flywheels.
The tendency to stall at lights is more prevalent on cars with agressive clutches. The flywheel has less impact for that.
