Default Gauge setup

Hey guys,

in an effort to get my S ready for some track work this year i have been looking into purchasing some gauges for my car.

Im looking into purchasing the single din slot defi meter system. Just wondering if anyone has this setup in their car? i dont want something which will attract too much attention either. Thats why im favouring the defi din setup in the standard headunit location.

But this would mean i will have to relocate the headunit into the 'secret compartment'. Has anyone done this before? i just want to find out how feasible this setup would be.

if you have a similar setup to the one i have described could you please post pics here.

Very interesting idea! Long as you don't mind the location being so low when your eyes should be on the track and not your lower dash.

If you're interested in relocating a deck to the secret compartment, I'd recommend looking at marine audio (Clarion, for example) because you will find neat little wired remote control units with displays that are no bigger than the size of those gauges you're installing. They cost slightly more then non-marine audio but might be handy for you.

dalink- those threads dont really relate specifically to what i want to know.

mikeycb- would you have a link to these headunits?

Also to confirm in the later model S2000 is the CD stacker relocated into the secret compartment??

i have looked at the ricks gauges which go onto the radio door, but thats abit expensive for me. The defi din is roughly 40,000-45,000Yen from yahoo auctions.

True, sorry I spoke out of place.
I recently ordered some gauges from PLX and they are small enough to actually go in the door. My room mate is going to put them in the door cover. Will look nice.

Here is an example of the type of remote I'm talking about:
