Default Harmonic dampener?

Was wondering what is the horsepower limit of the stock harmonic dampener on an ap1?
and is it really needed to run around 500 hp on stock bottom end?
Thanks

The harmonic balancer has nothing to do with horsepower. The only thing I could see changing the requirements for the harmonic balancer would be if you changed the crank for a stroker build.

so your saying more power will not bring along more vibrations of the crank..

I believe you would have more harmonic vibration coming from the exhaust stroke than you would from the power stroke, so I don't see any reason that the harmonic balancer would need to be changed unless you change pistons, rods, crank, or increased the rev limit.

If a harmonic balancer is insufficient, then you'll wear your bearings faster. If you are pushing 500 HP, then you'll also wear your bearings faster just from that. It would be hard to quantify how much bearing wear would come from the harmonic balancer, and how much would come from the extra power.
