So I picked up a used Seibon CF hood a few months ago and didn't put it on until now.
At first the hood is looking like it'll drop right in with no fitment issues but upon closer look, there is a sorta chasm in the middle portions of the hood.
Sorry for the dark pics, I should get some new ones later.
There's a few mm gap on each side. The hood is not touching the hood stops, I've even removed them to see if it'll go down more but no avail. If I put pressure on the top of the hood, it'll come down more and be perfect but bouce right back up. What can I do to fix it? Do you think the hood can be heated up and flexed into place?
Also, there's some yellowing in the hood. Since it's seibon, been reading they might have used cheap gel coat and the only way to fix it is to sand and reclear or paint it.
Is it a banana shape? as in the front and rear of the hood sit flush but the sides are bowed like that? maybe during storage it wasn't properly positioned so some warping happened? mate had a problem with that on his 33GTR (CF spoon hood).
hopefully you can move bits around etc like the latch and get it sitting perfect
Yes, bowing. It was laying flat on the ground with cardboard underneath so I don't think it was that. It is used so previous owner may have stored it badly.
I'll try adjusting it again today. I'll try the hood latch but it's already flush in the front. Not sure how much lower it can get.
So both near the windscreen and the front bumper it lays nice and flush? and when it was stored it wasn't stressed out slightly by like leaning against a wall with heat near it?
Have you tried talking to the guy that owned it before to see if he had a problem with it?? maybe he did something to the rest of the panels that could help you out...
