just to warn you going 12 or 14 k is very bad its like getting your windshield tinted, not visibility wise but lawsuit wise... if u get into and accident and someone hit u head on and its there fault, with a cheap lawyer they can easily win the case saying your visibility was limited and you car didnt have proper lighting, same situation with headlights and if someone get hurt badly and its there fault they can win the case very easily, just something to consider but by all means do what u want

Holy crap I didn't even know you could get 12k or 14k bulbs... call me naive... but wow! To give my honest opinion, I don't like either. I saw a couple of cars the other day with purple-ish lights and I was laughing at them (not to be mean but it's the truth). The girlfriend said, "How pretty, they're purple!" Considering her car knowledge is comparable to mine with women's shoes, I wouldn't want that kind of comment being said about my car .

Sorry if my response sounds a bit brash, but at least it's my honest opinion. Since you asked, I figure my honest opinion would be a little more insightful than the other more ridicule laden responses.

Also, I couldn't help but notice a few common word misspellings in this thread... pay attention in English class people! And this is coming from someone who was a B writer in high school and college .
actually i saw a Nissan Altima with purple HIDs the other night on the freeway....my girl was with me in the s2k...she said, "wow he might as well have pink lights".

true story

All US OEM HIDs are 4300k, it's the only legal temperature/color.

Some look different due to age and optics.
when I bought my 2004 SVT Focus it had HID's as well but they were purple as hell right off the show room floor, the light itself was white and it was much brighter then the S2K's are, I wonder if they were over 4300 since the HID's came from over the pond.....

yeah they were crazy bright man, it's nuts. Don't get me wrong out S2K's are bright and beautiful, but with the SVT's I could hit the high beams and see the tops of trees almost 1/4 mile down the road. I got flashed by oncoming traffic at least 2-3 times a night and I took it back to the dealer twice to make sure everything was adjusted correctly and it was, they are just that bright....it's crazy

I'm not familiar with Focuses, but are 04 SVT Focuses suppose to have HIDs out of the factory? Or did the dealer installed the kit into original housing?

Unlike halogen bulbs which project light through their sides and reflect light forward with reflectors, HID bulbs project light forward directly through their tips. From what you're saying, it sounds like your Focus's HIDs were installed into standard halogen headlight housing lacking light cut-off plates. Which would reflect light much higher than OEM HID headlights, as well as blinding on coming traffic.
