Default I need help with a few mods before next track day!

Hey all.

I'm going to a Winton Raceway "fun day" on the 20th of January and need help with a few things.

To start off, my sway bar links in the rear are shot. I need to replace them. I was considering using these:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-FRONT-R...ht_2279wt_1163

Is there anything wrong with the above set?

Also, my front rotors are pretty worn. Are slotted rotors + new pads with standard calipers a decent braking upgrade? If so, can anyone link me some rotors and pads they would recommend I buy?

I also have a very slight leak in my rocker cover gasket. It doesn't need urgent replacing, but I got quoted %115 for one from Honda. Does anyone know of any cheaper after market ones that will do the job?

Thanks.

I can't speak to the quality of those end links, I would personally just go with OEM replacements.

What pads do you have now? And what kind of tires? If you are looking for a dedicated track pad, look at Carbotech XP10 in front and XP8 in the rear.

For brakes, most track guys just go with the cheapest blank rotors they can find, usual Centric. Slotted/drilled are more a gimmick than anything, and will not yield you shorter stopping distances.

Ok I will look into OEM replacements.

I currently have standard pads. I'm not really after a dedicated track set, just a set I can use every day that will hold up on the track. The stock ones weren't too bad.

I thought slotted discs stayed cooler?

Don't stress too much about your car on a fun day. You're stricted to certain things which limit you to push your car to that extent.

Don't bother with slotted rotors, blank discs are just fine. Just give it a good flush and replace the pads (if you haven't got much left). As for the gasket - you can buy it from ebay/CFL honda. Anything from the dealership is always overpriced however if you need things urgently, then you may consider paying their stealership taxes.

Check fluids, brakes, and tyres and you're pretty much ready to go.

If you have less than 50% left of your stock pads, and are happy with their performance, replace them with OEM pads also. Once you start getting more aggressive pads, you start making compromises(dust, noise, bedding, etc.)

If you felt the stock pads were sufficient, you won't need to worry about brake temp very much, and the general consensus on slotted rotors is that the extra price you pay for them doesn't give you any advantage. They still will crack after severe track use, so it's more economical to buy the cheapest blanks you can, and replace them when they crack. But you won't be cracking rotors with stock pads, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I have personally done track days with my s2k, tires would be great for grip, but unnessesary, new rotors i would suggest, cause you'll get new ones after the track day anyways, if its a road course that is, idk what the track is like, pads i would suggest, dont run traction control on cause that will kill your pads/rotors, but otherwise your good.

I went to the dealership and got quoted near $400 for front and rear link pins and $380 per rotor.

Any aftermarket rotors you guys would recommend? And is there anything wrong with the ebay link pins that I linked?

Thanks.

Last time i went i was pushing my car about as hard as I could at the end of the day when most people had left.

I just need to find some good rotors and pads as well as sway bar link pins that aren't going to break my bank but still hold up.
