i just purchased a two year subscription
Hopefully, they emerge from the bankruptcy as a better situated company, renegotiating alot of their debts and come out the other side more streamlined and a privately owned entity. Your subscription should be safe.
-above is wishful thinking.
The reality is they stated the BK was lender approved and currently the lenders are saying this was not the case. The IRS is objecting to the BK filing because they owe over 10 million dollars in taxes, and the other companies SORC owes money to, state that they did not agreed to this reorganization and just want what they are owed, without taking ownership in the company and liquidating assets to get what is owed.

i know people bitch about parts, but really.. how hard is it to make a s2000 header for $100.. or an exhaust for $250 shipped.. intake for $50..
these parts aren't rocket science to make, a stateside company needs to actually get witty and step up..

If you were wondering how some companies can charge so much for carbon fiber. Here's how ASM is doing things.

Incredible read. I spent close to half an hour scanning through every page of this thread and I'm impressed with your diligence and persistence with Carter. I'm sad to see that you never received the response you were vying for, especially since you went through the trouble of attending the anniversary party and have been waiting so long.
I know this isn't of much consequence, but many of the cars featured in Source Interlink's magazines don't actually have many of the parts they claim to. I won't mention which cars they are, but you can spot a few that claim to have authentic parts but in-fact have the knock off.
As for the ads that feature less-than-reputable brand names, it's difficult for me to pass judgment on them as I work for Source Interlink as well, and they essentially write my paychecks. I'm not an S2K owner, but I am a tuner and I have to admit - I swing both ways when it comes to aftermarket part selection. Although I prefer authentic products, none of those products are put to good use, as I daily the car and frequent show venues.
Companies that blatantly knock off others' products is immoral to say the least, but it's a necessary evil in my opinion - as long as you know what you're getting into. Aero parts for example, are reasonable as far as knock-offs go. If the spoiler doesn't create the same amount of downforce then at worst, you may lose a few seconds at the track. If you purchase knock-off brake kits, wheels, or blow-off valves however, you're putting yourself and your passengers at risk. Ultimately that is a decision that many uninformed people will regret making and I can't help but feel like there should be a governing body that regulates such companies. Then again, cars are over-regulated as it is and requiring testing of those products would just make everything more expensive than it already is.
...off-topic, I love GoTuning's S2K and take pleasure in drooling all over it at all the shows it goes to.
Thanks to Tan, David, Steve and all the others who contributed to this thread. It was a great read!

Thanks for the kind words, I will try and keep this thread updated with articles from import tuner as I get them and maybe I might get a response, chances are slim, but I'll stay optimistic.
The knock off vs. authentic is a beaten horse to say the least, and I wont be one to judge those who cant afford to "pay to play". I do agree with you on the form vs function part. I will never put questionable parts (internals, brakes, clutch, shocks, etc) on my car, those are corners that when cut can be dangerous.
My brain works in strange ways, I can justify spending $1500+ on an exhaust or suspension but for an aero piece... I find that to be a difficult pill to swallow. I love reading the threads about people who have visited the shops in Japan, and the hospitality they have received. I think it is important to get that face time and a chance to get a look at the way their operation does business, if only to build brand loyalty. That is not a luxury I have been afforded.
Tan you are everywhere and your connections seem limitless! I'm sorry Tommy couldn't get his car featured in the magazine he wanted, but the feature turned out well in import tuner and he should get some good mileage out of the exposure.
I really am a huge supporter and fan of the import scene and culture, I just wish I was involved more directly. I spend so much time reading articles, researching parts, and keeping up with the trends- It would be nice to turn that passion to work.

It seems the JDM community has a difficult time policing themselves without help from counterfeit companies.
