excellent writing...

I didnt get a PM or anything... and I just came across this while lurking.
thanks for the kind words, and keep up the excellent work. I sent out a PM to you ben and oscar... and received feedback from all except ben. Im sorry it didnt go through but im glad your lurking brought you here.

I am a PWJD (although small) customer and a have been impressed with the functionality and design quality of your products. It is people like you and their DGAF mentality that is going to really change this scene.

Good work and I cant wait to see what you have in works for some aero parts. your CF under tray is a thing of beauty and i know you will continue improving and innovating your products.

thanks for stopping by.

First off, great read, def subscribed.

Okay, lets look at it this way, every replica add has to say "perfect fit" or "best fit" or something along those lines. Just as the editor of Import Tuner said, why would they have to inform us of 100% beef? It should fit perfect because it is made for our cars! Now when buying new wide body fenders or some ridiculous huge wing, if they dont fit okay, you can fix that will a little stucko or JB and paint over it. Cool, you saved three hundred dollars and now you can spend it on whatever you like. But i just bought the Volk TE37 TAs that cost me 4k to drop on my car. And that is fine with me. Cause when i take a turn doing 90+mph i dont have to worry about my wheel or tire folding or rolling on itself. The Vortech supercharger i am about to buy, wont destroy my entire engine the second i turn it on without a tune. And my Hawk pads and spoon calipers wont fade after two hard brakes. But who is to say when i throw on some no name TE37 replicas or $10 brake pads where i will be when my car is done flipping/sliding. Or maybe my ill fitted wing will come of and the down force being gone causes a complete loss of control! Read the article in Modified Magazine about the NSX during the Tuner Shoot Out. Anyone can make a replica and make a quick buck. But when you want the performance with reliability and the store front to back it up, unlike the no name no address bumpers 4 less places, then you are going to have to spend a little extra dough. My reasons may be different. Some do just want the authentic JDM flare. Which is great cause it still supports the companies. As do I if you read my sig with all the Arc crap i just bought. But in the end, I know that all that Arc crap will still be looking as good as new two years from now and performing the same. The Wheels will still be rolling in a perfect line and the Mugen wing isnt flying off anytime soon either. I hate to say it but i have dropped 15k on my car so far, but i know that none of it went to swindlers and even less of it has yet to give me a problem with my car! Oh, and a side note, I am an E5 in the navy. So i am not rich nor ballin outrageous (haha). I have to save my money and spend my money on these parts instead of beer!

Ben said he was going to clear his schedule and may be going to Japan since the Owner of Amuse passed away (it may be why you did not get a response).

Good read and I agree 100% with what you wrote.

Another problem with the industry IMHO is car shows and their judges. They are scoring cars with authentic parts and fake parts the same (granted sometimes you cant tell the difference, but when you can it should be noted). That sets the bar for many people that it doesn't matter if the part is the "real Deal" or not and that they should be considered equal. They will say its to make sure not to take away from the attendance of cars that have fake parts at the show and to give everyone the equal chance to win (Politics at the shows is a whole different thread...LOL).

If thats the real reason behind it then they should start a different class for cars with lesser/copied parts or something of that nature.

First thread worth reading through in a while.

The editor's letter can't be taken seriously. As someone mentioned, Import Tuner sells ad space to the knock off companies for which the editor is bashing. If he can talk the talk lets see him walk the walk. Lets see the magazine turn down money and only show advertisments for authentic parts.

BTW, not all JDM parts are quality... I've seen authentic kits where the fitment and was horrible.

very nice read although a response from the editor is slim, it was a great effort nonetheless.
i am not too sure if you'll get a response from Carter Jung... he's a very busy man, and a stand up guy. he's doing his job because he too is an enthusiast... he can probably make a whole lot more if he went to work for a magazine that covers home improvement or something, but he's not... he's here writing for all of our enjoyment. i am a fan of his writings. he stands the ground, even when its not the most popular of positions. he's one of the guys in this industry that will do more than most others are willing to. this industry would be a much much better industry if there are more guys like him.

Not sure I can influence him to respond, but we will see. Carter is a hardcore JDM freak of a guy.

Advertising dollars publish a magazine, I am sure you are all aware of that.
