Default Which Intake is Better?

Hello,

I know there may be many threads about this subject but I've been looking around and can't seem to find the answer. I just bought a 2005 S2000 and it is 100% stock.

I'm wondering which is the best short-ram intake available in the market that isn't ridiculously expensive like the one PasswordJDM sells. I've been hearing that the OEM intake is actually an amazing intake and many aftermarket ones actually yield a performance decrease.

Is the K&N one any good or are there any other suggestions?

Thanks!

He is a good one if you still want to go cheap but want something better looking under the hood. CT Engineering witch is Comptech. This intake had proven gains over stock. I've ran it on my S2k and was able to notice a awesome difference in motor notice " Sounds super mean now" and a little better pick up in throttle responce. You are only really looking at a 2-4hp gain with this system though. That goes with almost any intake for a S2000 because like you said Honda did this one right and the stock airbox is still damn good for stock.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to look into it.

On the other hand, does anyone have any opinions on the K&N SRI?

Both are good. My friend has the comptech I think it has a very mechanical Porsche like sound to it. The fipk sounds great too I have that one.

aem v2 is "the" best. - they've tested at least a dozen other intakes at there facilities and it always outperforms the others - 1500 dollar mugen or 250 dollar kn doesn't matter.

Isn't the AEM V2 a CAI instead of SRI?

it pulls air from the front bumper in front of the radiator so it's an ambient temp intake

K&N FIPK, Comptech, and the PRM intake are all good short ram intakes. I've personally had the K&N and PRM intake before and liked both of them, I actually liked my PRM better than the FIPK. If you did a little research on them you will find all the info you need. With any intake, especially a short ram your not going to gain hardly any power so unless your getting it for looks or sound, save your money. The OEM airbox is a good intake, but your not going to lose power with any of these intakes.

Yeah. I understand that power gain is going to be extremely minimal and it's not my main priority. With the intake, I am looking for the sound to add a bit more "oomph" when driving for fun!
