I'm on the fence with intakes, I would expect all intakes (plan a tb upgade too) to probably make power with tuning 6.5k+ based on my logs which show the oem chokin. At the same time I hope for resonance points in my mid range (aem v2? Shortened/lengthened/modified cai?). Really sounds like custom with larger piping is what I'm really looking for? I like the idea of ambient air intake because it'll stabilize my iat making tuning/iat compensation easier, I know with the oem intake iat fluctuates wildly (based on speed) to the point where I make more power when its hot (leaner and stable hot iats)

The issue with ambient air intake is I might suck in water and hydrolock (happened to me with another car in socal before - aem cai). I have a bypass valve but still...

I don't care about sound (probably can't hear it over the exhaust) or looks/bling factor and I don't intend to spend the dough for ripoffjdm box

Since I'm in cali I appreciate the carb legal factor ie aem, fipk, comptech (custom :'()

I've had aem sri and cai in my other cars. Ebay ans custom stuff too.

I really think the aem v2 has the best power potential. I like the price of fipk, and I think the comptech with the in filter velocity stack is better than fipk but the price...

I heard the fujita 5 cai is like a aem with fatter piping? Might be good too?

Can the aem v2 be converted to sri easily like removing the longer portion of the tube?

I think what I really want is a aem v2 dual chamber cai that can be converted to a form of sri, has the in filter velocity stack and wide mouth filter like the comptech...

I got a FIPK and i love it.. Still, I am curious of how my car would sound and be with a stock oem box and K&N drop in... I have forgotten how it was before...hmmmm

I picked up the FIPK and installed it and I'm loving the sound it makes!

There's one minor problem though. Where the tube sits and goes through the hole on the heatshield; it seems like the tube can wiggle and vibrate against the walls very easily while driving. Does anyone know a method to secure it better?

If it's secured tightly at both ends, then you it shouldn't move much.

It also comes with a bracket that mounts to the shield and secures the tube...

My tube isn't resting on the bracket though.

It doesn't.. It's just an extra bracket IMO

Mine never rested on the clamp, no matter how tight I made it..

The extra clamp is there to secure the piping to the bracket, it's kinda a pain to get tightened down but I'll take pictures when I get home
