Default K&N Filter vs K&N Cold Air intake

What is the difference between having a K&N air filter vs the K&N cold air system?? and can I remove the OEM air box lid for more air flow??Thanks

The filter's just a filter. You can remove the air box lid but you'll get heat soak. All this covered in countless prior threads. Intakes are a very common topic.
