I used the yellow Lamin-X for my Accord's fog lights. I think they got too hot however and developed slight spotting after awhile - BUT it held up incredibly well to the weather/rock chips/etc and stayed stuck

I think for taillights they'd work perfectly - not enough heat to do any damage.

I received these and installed them today. They're a bitch to install given the curves and line angles in the tails, but I eventually got them on and they look good! I'll post pics when I get the chance

I used the "spray paint crap" and i think it looks fine... your able to apply a very thick dark coat .. then i used rubbing alcohol and papaer towels and kept rubbing the taillight until i got it to the level of tint that i wanted... then a final coat of wax buffed in to make it glossy.

I bought the "precut" taillight tint... Biggest pain in the ass to put on and wont come out right because of all the curves.. (Not for the do-it-yourselfer OR backyard mechanic) You have to be VERY good. i ended up wasting 20 bucks on it and peeled it off..

1 can of VHD tint i think it was called for $10 FTW

And for the record.. the video of the M3 .. the taillights came out like shit.. and thats their demonstration video.. on a relatively EASY taillight with not much curve to it..

Yes they are a PIA to install, but I was able to get them to stretch and conform to the taillights just fine, and I'm by no means a professional tint installer or anything. There are some bubbles in them right now, but w/ a few days in the sun (thank goodness I live in south FL!), most of them should come out; the rest I can use a thin pin to poke a little hole and press out the air, then all will be good!
For those that may get the Lamin-X, I would only go for the lightest tint shade they have (I think it's called gunsmoke), because any darker would verge on too dark IMO

you may regret making this thread... as most people are not a fan of the tinted lights, but are very much fans of flaming.....
i think thats my cue!

i'll keep it nice, but whenever i see someone with tinted tails in front of me and my POS daily driver, i feel strongly urged to rear end them and say that i couldn't see their brake lights. for all i know, i wouldn't be at fault since its an illegal mod, right? or am i wrong, cuz if im wrong (and i AM at fault) then i'll just high-beam them instead...

you have no idea how much my right foot itches to press harder when i see a nincompoof with tinted tails in front of me.

bite me!

For one, the tint on my tails doesn't darken the brake lights at all, I checked today and my wife didn't even know that I tinted them. Secondly, there's a third brake light, so in conclusion, it doesn't do anything to hinder the safety-ness of the car IMO

This is worse than the keyhole covers mod. They both reduce functionality of something in the car but this one is a hazard for other people. No matter how you put it, you can not argue that this will leave it equal or any more visible than left alone.

I don't get an urge to purposely rear-end someone with tinted tail-lights but I do get the urge to call them out on it. Good thing we got the internets for this.
