Default Looking at exhausts...

Always been a Mustang guy. This is my first S2K. I am knowledgeable about Mustangs so I'm asking anyone for their aopinion so I don't make a bad purchase.

I'm looking at the T1R 70R-EM Cat Back. I like the fact that there is basically no drone and the dyno sheet shows about a 15 HP and 10 lb. Torque gain. From here I was looking at a Berk HFC or Test Pipe. Is there HP to gain by going TP? Won't you smell exhaust with a TP?

Was looking at headers, but they almost seem cosmetic unless you're putting in a SC or a Turbo. Am I right?

Thanks in advance!

the 70R-EM is a nice exhaust. for our cars a test pipe is one of the best hp/$ items you can purchase. yes it will smell, if this is going to be a bother, you could go with the berk hfc, they are comparable in terms of performance, however the hfc will eliminate most of the smell but of course its going to cost a bit more. i would put your money elsewhere before purchasing a header, a header doesnt net much hp for the cost, unless you are already at that point of your build. more affordable pieces to look at would be the PLM or Berk.

Ya wait on the header, better off spending the $$$ in suspension mods/wheels tires.. The exhaust set up mentioned is great

header is useless if u planning on going Turbo....

but header and/or test pipe could help eliminate drone.

u will get more mid range (at least that's what my butt tells me) with the test pipe on the stock ecu

like togue says, go with suspension first. power can wait until u r more familiar with how the car drives. =)

oh, and with that exhaust, along with a. 70mm tp and J's header and a hondata tune, its possible to eliminate MOST of the drone. friend had that set up and it was pretty civilized.

if you plan do boost, i would get something more like the HKS 75mm, i just got mine a few days ago, and it sound amazing and is very civilized compaired to the skunk2 exhaust i used to have. Also, careful with the test pipe, as ap2 cars throw codes like crazy... my ap1 has never thrown a code for mine, i did the defouler mod aswell.
