Nice

Based on 15.10.I, this could be a good choice for BSP drivers:

"Exhaust manifolds and muffler systems are free, except that they must be quiet and terminate behind the driver."
I figured it would be fine for anything in Street Prepared or Modified classes, but I didn't think many S2000's went that route.
There are a lot of people going to BSP this year in S2000s...the national championship this year was won in one.

Keep in mind they can go straight to a test pipe...but you're saying this is actually better than a test pipe right?

There are definitely gains from the mid-pipe above what a test pipe provides, but as you can see from the dyno plots in post #1, they are limitted to a smaller RPM range. Also, since a BSP car would have a much higher focus on weight savings than a street car, it might be best to have a BSP specific design. For example, if I built one for a dedicated race car, it would be more like the STR prototype I showed a couple pages ago, which has a longer / narrower expansion chamber without any sound deadening material. It would also NOT have an HFC core, nor would it have V-bands. I would just make it as a solid hollow pipe with expansion chamber followed by a single muffler. It would produce a virtually identical dyno plot, but it would be louder, with more rasp and drone.

That could definitely have a market...also it sounds cheaper than the one talked about here.

Will the packing get old and need replaced?

Whats the risk of the cat element getting plugged up with carbon since its not going to get as hot as a typical cat placement?

What he said. How is the cat holding up being so far back? Does it ever get hot enough?

If you read the thread, you will find EGT plots that show how the catalyst responds. You will also see posts about how I have never seen any discoloration or soot buildup on the catalyst during the 100's of times I've saw them during testing. The HFC core is always AT LEAST as clean and fresh as when it was new. I believe that the core will actually last longer than it would in the OEM location, since I believe they burn up in the OEM location. My only concern would be for people that drive their S2000's during extremely low temperatures for short distances. For example, if you live in the far north, and only drive 2-3 miles at a time while it's 20 below with 6" of snow on the road. You could definitely foul the HFC core by doing that a few times. Of course, you would probably foul your spark plugs too.

Cool. Sounds good. Definitely a good product. I am looking into exhausts for my car. Scca bsp rule set and to stay under 94db. This might be wort it.
