A good salesman would gladly answer any question any number of times, and just be thankful for any show of interest which could possibly lead to a sale. However, I'm not a salesman. I'm an engineer, and won't waste my time (or thread real estate) on "tire kickers" who aren't willing to read the first 2-3 pages of a thread.

However, I do need to clarify about the compatability between the GernPipe and OEM header. My pipe will bolt to any header that is compatable with the stock cat, which I believe is every header EXCEPT the Hytech header. However, here is a list of reasons why the OEM header is *currently* the best choice when combined with my mid-pipe:

1) OEM header will offer the most consistent overall fitment, so install should be easier.
2) OEM header has a 60 mm collector, which perfectly matches the input diameter of the GernPipe.
3) OEM header has the best resonant characteristics of any header I've tuned for (very small resonant humps and dips in torque curve).
4) OEM header with GernPipe already achieves more than 100% scavenging, so any more scavenging would NOT be beneficial.
5) OEM header is free.
6) OEM header is quiet.
7) OEM header helps keep the engine bay cooler.
8) OEM header increases the weight of the car only about 0.3% over a light weight header.

The only case I can think of for an aftermarket header is when you are going far beyond basic bolt-ons. If you're going with some sort of uber-build, like an URGE setup (ITB's, cams, built internals for 10K RPMs, etc.), then a redesigned header would be appropriate.

I just found this topic and I want it, I need it, I hope you are willing to post to the netherlands, because I would sell my turbo kit for this. I want to go NA again and this would be the way the go. I really gonna miss the torque I have at low rpm now />/>

But al dynosheets are with Vtec low to Hi cam at approx 3600 min-1... I think I can tune that with my AEM 1052 Standalone or do I need a vtec controller?

But great respect for the design, imput and info you give here!! Cannot wait for the groupsbuy and hope I can go onto the list of first buyers />

Will a lighter fluwheel, light engine spanrols kit(is that a ood translation?) and a larger gashouse be an advantage on engine respons / torque?

What would be the best single muffler and pipe size to use with this gern-pipe?

If I had time to continue building prototypes, I would try out a 2.5" Vibrant muffler, and if it wound up being too raspy, I would add a 2.5" bottle resonator half way between the Gern-Pipe and muffler.

any plans to license the design to a vendor to build a complete bolt in package? It would be a shame for the design to be lost to history after these last 13 units.

I just wanted to add a quick comment since I put a couple of thousand miles on the gernpipe...still waiting for my torque graphs from autowave and the holiday probably has something to do with the delay.

The benefits are not just at WOT, this changes the way the car drives normally. At around 3700 to 4k rpm at any amount of throttle, the tone of the exhaust changes and the car pulls much harder. I think the tone change sounds like a tuned pipe on a 2stroke engine when it hits that certain rpm...and it doesn't have to be on high cam and heavy throttle.

I'm still interested in hearing feedback from the other 5 independents :-)

Were you tuned for lowered vtec before adding this pipe? What you're describing sounds like what I would say after tuning with flashpro, nothing to do with the exhaust..

I was on a berk hfc prior to the gernpipe and vtec crossover was more like 5.5k. I was skeptical of going as low as 4.5k because it didn't seem possible with my car (had header, 70mm exh, etc). Also tuned on EMS. I put the stock header back on to use with the gernpipe.

I know it was the gernpipe because I had to drive with the car untuned for almost 2 weeks (never made changes to vtec). Even untuned it exhibited these tone differences and you could feel the car wanted to 'go' at that rpm even on low cam. The tuning brought out the power all over.

If anyone in socal wants a demo I might be at the next WLA meet haha.
