Hi y'all I've had my s2k for three years now and I'm 29 so I'm no just a ricer kid. I can't deny im still in love with the v tec sound at wot. I have always ran with a open air box, I know some of you hate the idea of heat soak but I'm a firm be liver that once rolling fresh air takes its place. I also don't like cold air intakes because I don't have the confidence to drive in heavy rain. My question is have any of you removed the under the hood insulator and noticed a louder intake sound?

 

well yea the purpose of that box is to quiet down the intake. do a search there are a ton of threads about this.

 

I mean the gray padding on the hood itself

 

I have a vented hood with no gray padding and the intake is definitely the prominent sound I hear

 

If you think that's loud, try venting your hood.

 

mine makes a whistle sound its pretty loud cause i just have stock exhaust

 

from what i read a while ago the insulator wont do anything but if you vent your hood it will defenetly be louder, just imagine runnning with your hood lol i actually want to try it some time but people are gonna think im trying to show off my engine from the bling i have lol or you can remove it to save 1.5lbs of dead weight since our cars have terrible torque #'s

 

the under hood insulation definetly makes a huge difference i took mine off and its loud and obnoxious like i like it lol

take it off. you'll love it. (thats what she said lol)
