Default what is the fine for....

I'm not going to even bother with de catting my car as much as I want the sound because the fine is something crazy like $1500 and apparently a serious offense. How much is the fine if a cop pulls you over and pops your hood and sees you dont have a carb sticker on your intake?
And please lets not get into whether you should pop your hood or the legal issue of that.. just assume the hood is open and he comments on the intake. I heard it's like a $200 fine? Is that correct? Do you get sent to the ref too? I dont have anything illegal other than no front plates and front tint. I care about my front tints and I dont want to get sent to a ref in fear of them making me rip the tint off more than anything. I love the privacy and the heat protection, even though it's only 20%.

Anyway, if the fine is small for the intake issue I'll go ahead and get a cheap ass ebay intake. I removed the airbox lid and I SWEAR the car was faster.. it actually had more pull in the midrange and I was actually shocked how f@#kin loud and awesome it sounds. I saw videos and thought it would be minor.. it is actually VERY loud. The car might have had more power because it was a cold start but I'm guessing after a while it will heat soak and get worse than with the lid as everyone reported. but made me want to get a CAI.

anyone get written up for non carb cai?
