Megan rasonator test pipe make exhaust quieter?
So my Tsudo exhaust is very loud and droney as expected. I see where a couple people weld in a vibrant performance resonator and it goes from 110db to like 94db. Anyone able to comment on how the resonated megan test pipe does to make the drone better? I don't really want to cut up my burk test pipe and pay to have a resonator put in it. I hear most exhaust shops charge a good bit to weld stainless and I am affraid they will alter the legnth of the pipe making it not fit well. Just curious how decent the resonator is on the megan pipe? Does it include a cel fix or will I need to make my own? Thanks guys.

If you have VTEC set at the factory engagement point, then a resonator in the test pipe might help, or it might not. That just depends on the particular header and exhaust you have. However, if you have a lowered VTEC engagement, then putting a resonator in the test pipe will ruin your torque curve. Resonated test pipes ruin midrange torque in VTEC about as much as a cat.

I had one and it took the raspiness out of the exhaust and tame it down a little. Mine was an skunk2 ear blaster exhaust so it will work OK for you. Bought it cheap on ebay so not much money lost.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will try the ebay resonated test pipes for the time being. I have stock vtec engagement point right now btw. I will just keep my berk test pipe for track days when power really matters seeing as how this 60mm test pipe will hurt power. I will get it ordere dand let you guys know how it worked out incase anyone else is interested. If it still doesn't work I may weld a vibrant performace resonator on it instead.
I would still like to hear other experiences as well please. Thanks!

I, personally, have had bad luck in the past with Megan resonator/test pipes. The perforated pipe on the inside came loose me twice (two different, brand new pipes) on my civic I used to own. Their header, on the other hand, was fantastic.

He's not alone, never good "luck" with megan products, my header on my sentra was okay but i only ran it 6 months.. If berk doesnt work for your desired db, Megan wont either. New exhaust... Or you could try a straight through test pipe, the noise in the cabin will be far quieter, but the shmucks behind you will be shitting out of their ears.

Well bought a megan style resonated one on ebay for non track driving, 50 bucks shipped. Not sure how it will last. Installed tonight and there was an immediate difference. Not AS big as it could be with a bigger resonator but it for sure toned down the volume and the drone as well I will take som big hills and such tmrw and see how it handles those situations
