mine is the same as the "newer" one on their site:

yeah, it's pretty wimpy. but like i said, i've not seen anything else as an alternative. (i also use the panavise one they sell for the radio to mount something else, which is actually much stronger. need both locations though.) i just use it to mount my g2x dash, so luckily i don't have to push the buttons often.
yeah i understand, its not as strong as id like it to be as well.

I have the new version bracket and it's only about 1mm thick, so your gap should be no bigger than the thickness of the bracket. If there's more of a gap, then you need to trim more or make sure all of the clips on the bezel are pressed back in.

It's very easy to trim the lip on the dash, just need a razor and 2 minutes.

it's sturdy enough for touch screen electronics, but i can see it being slightly flimsy if you have to press buttons.

All,

I have built my own GPS (or any suction cup electronic device) bracket which does not consist of cutting, modifying or causing some dash bezel not fitting flush. This bracket (or mount) is removable so that when your S is unattended, you can remove it and store it in the console glove box. This way (((thieves))) can not see that you have a device worth stealing.
If you wish for a pic let me know....

I ripped off Modifry's design and made my own... and the dash trim gap is only the width of the bracket thickness... about 3/64ths if I had to guess.

Had I known about the gap, the impossible to remove without damaging screw caps, and the high probability something will be scratched I would not have made this purchase. For anyone thinking about doing this I must urge you to cover the dash around where your working so you don't scratch/nick it up. Good luck getting those caps out perfect though.

I own quite a few Modifry products and I'm completely satisfied with the quality and service but this product really needs a disclaimer.

I will post pics soon. The mount is mounted in the drop down radio door so the ONLY drawback is that your radio door has to be open to use this mount. But, once the mount is removed you can close the door. NO mods necessary.

though i agree there should be a disclaimer, remember that the product does what its intended to do. i am using an iphone 4 proclip mount on the modifry bracket, and i cant think of a better solution, its right in front of me and works really well.

Agreed, I have the same setup, and it works well. I probably would have tried the promount solution or the panavise bracket instead though.

I agree that a disclaimer should be there.
