All,

Pics included

The mount is slid under the radio door clip and then the GPS or other (suction cupped) device can then be mounted to the bracket. Through rough roads and curves it does not vibrate or cause the device to bounce.

(Patent is pending on this mount)

Thanks for looking....

mine was fine... just take your time with the xacto knife. the gap is only as thick as the bracket itself, which is like 1 mm or less. You really have to cut more of the dash's inner lip than you think you need to. I had to go back a couple times until it was sitting the way I wanted.

my only complaint is that with my stiff engine mounts the modifry mount wobbles like crazy at idle lol.

edit: i have the gps mount up by the steering wheel, not the radio mount

I just did mine tonight and there is a gap. I'm pretty sure I cut enough of the dash back, but what do ya'll think? Here are some pictures.

I cannibalized an old vent mount holder and made it work until I decide on what kind of holder to get. The bracket is surprisingly sturdy and does shake over rough road, but it is not bad enough that you cant read whats being displayed.

I am not convinced that a permanent bracket is the way to go. Once you remove the GPS or electronic device the bracket is still mounted and looks out of place... IMO

Your car now becomes a target for lQQkers,,,,,,,

MP2K: your gap is pretty small IMO. it seems like its just like mine. i dont think it gets much better than that.

honestly, if you guys don't want something permanent you should just get a suction cup or friction mount for your dash.

Just trying to introduce another idea as to how to mount a GPS without marring up the ride....

Cheers to all.

i like your idea a lot. for something like a gps i would definitely want it mounted higher up.

where do you get the material for your mount?

Just ordered this modifry mount myself. Personally, cant wait to install it. I currently have and use a universal suction mount I got from Best Buy. Works great but I have to lean forward to change songs/configure gps on my iphone. Unsafe.

I went to a place that makes signs for businesses and bought a couple sheets of black (1/8") plastic to make projects with.
