To make things short , My car is pushing 550 whp and I need to upgrade parts to handle the power . Heres my question, whats my options for a tranny? I blew second gear tonight on a 2000rpm-6000 pull . Second gear is gone , and driving it makes noise from the tranny. Please anyone who is pushing these numbers or higher i would like to know what you have done to upgrade.

 

try ap2 tranny?

is an ap2 stronger than an ap1 , For the last 3 years when 75% of my pulls are in second , I dont drag it at the track, just rolling pulls
anyone else have this problem? and replace with another stock tranny with no problems?

 

rule #1 dont boost in 6th and or below 3-4k in any gear

 

the ap2 trans has a bit more reinforcement cast into it.

 

2nd is the weakest gear.

I don't go full throttle in 2nd very much.

If you are happy with the use you have received out of the tranny you had, then just get another used one.

Why?

 

AFAIK, the only diff between AP1 and AP2 tranny's, aside from the ratios, is that the sychros are carbon fiber instead of brass, but I don't think that has anything to do with your problem.

 

I would like to know this as well..
