Default new oil filter for s2000

I got my self a Christmas gift for the s2000. Royal Purple new line of oil filter for s2000. They have sizes for other cars available too. I will give them a call for my daily whip 05 crv-ex size. Actually, I can use this one for my 05 honda crv-ex too. A bit over kill but it will do the work. From the look of this oil filter, I would say that it is similar to k&n and mobil 1 oil fiters in size and shape. I also have a collection of k&n and mobil 1 oil filters. I will be installed this new RP oil filter in the Spring when I change the oil/filter for the s2000

Nice Xmas gift, i got me a bunch of detailing stuff

I've never have done an oil change but wondering what kind of filter do you need to buy for 04 S2000?

Is it the 10-2808 even for mobile1 or any other brand.

thx

From what I read and hear about RP oil I'll stay away from their filters.

I'll stick with the OEM PCX filter. YMMV

Want to cut one open after you're done and make a comparison to the PCX filter and maybe others?

How about weighing each filter and letting us know the results?
media and bypass stuff can be judged somewhat just by weight. The heavier the filter, the more filter media and usually the better bypass.

Sweet, a new product for the S2000! However, Ill stick to my OEM Honda Filters (they are the same as HAMP filters). Just make sure its an S2000 filter, not a basic OEM filter...big difference

It is about $13 US dollar, similar price to k&n oil filter. Mobil 1 oil filter sometimes goes on sale for about $10 US dollar. The # reference is different from one manufacture to the other

I will find a 5kg/11pound food scale at my girl friend house to weight them and post the number. It is a good idea, but sometimes good compound materials might not be relative to weight. A good filter in general should have a larger surface area to filter out debris. OEM filter is the best bang for $$$, just make sure you use the one design for the s2000. There is a journal by ntpog.org by Todd Marucci & Gerhard Bartsch will give you some general knowledge about oil filters comparision. S2000 true Japan oil filter from the factory came with the car according to the authors never leave Japan. The OEM filters at your US local dealers made by Fram and other contracted manufactures in Canada. Nevertheless, OEM is still a good filter to use for the s2000 and approved by Honda. Royal Purple has alot of mix opinions from the 4-ball wear comparison funded by ams oil which discredited Royal Purple to an unbias comparison by Import Tuner magazine a couple of year ago to streetcommodores.com "OILS AIN'T OILS". I personally used most of brand name oil out there on my current 05 s2000 & crv-ex, and my previous cars. Ams oil and Royal purple are good oil out there in it pao group-4 class with Torco and Eneos. Alway look for independent test sources to compare similarity and dis-similarity to make your decision which oil to use.

Really? weighing the filter, there isn't really a way to get the exact amount of excess oil out of the filter that's just hanging around.

The OEM filters at your US local dealers made by Fram and other contracted manufactures in Canada.
And you're going to trust this Honda inconsistency when changing your oil? Everybody is all about "trusting Honda" But coming from working in the industry, and realizing how not "certified" certified oils are used in places like Honda, Ford and Chevy..... I wouldn't.

I use to manage a place that worked with only changing oil. And in our area there were only two places that supplied oil. Speaking with them it was amazing that places like honda advertised "Honda Genuine oil" (as in the same stuff they used in the bottle you buy) and we using Pennzoil. Then the next Honda dealership, used Shell.
