I think your project is neat but for me, the light patterns you chose (running light, brake, etc.) look funky. Maybe I just need to see the finished product. Either way, keep up the work

Did you eyeball the holes for the hole pattern? They look all over the place, I think they're going to look even worse lit up.

You might want to concider getting some panels laser cut from aluminum or water jet out of a sheet of plastic.

Graph paper probably wont cut it either, as the "lines" are going to be curved to match the tail light profile. Highly recommend having something CAD designed to locate the lights IF you are planning to put a decent effort into these. Ask around or make a post on your facebook account, a lot of people can draw with Inventor/Solidworks and print out a scaled template for you. I could probably draw up a template in 5 mins if you posted all the dimensions from the OEM tails.

Are you going to have some kinda of lens over the LED layout?
Or is it just going to be open like that with the clear taillight cover?

I think you should have the opposite. Have the C pattern as your driving lights and the full red as your brakes. That way it'll be brighter when you step on the brakes.

you need to get a spring loaded center punch

you mark out your holes and using the center punch you can dimple the material and then your drill won't wander...

It would be a shame to have this cool project fail because of something as simple as drilling the holes in a line.
...and it will look like ass if you use the hole you've got now.

spend the $4 buck and do it right

DIY ftw
