Default Rear isn't level after coilover install.

I installed a set of Buddy Club Race Spec Dampers today. The bottom mounts were set at the same exact height and locked in place before they were put on the car. I jacked up the rear end and both rear coilovers were removed (hence the sway bar was unloaded, but not disconnected). I installed the new rears and set it back down. The drivers side sits about 3/4 inch higher than the passenger side. The kicker is that the spare tire/tools are removed and the gas tank is 3/4 full.

Why does one side sit higher than the other? The corner weights can't be off by that much. Even when I sit in the car the height remains the same. Any clue?

i put springs on last week, i had sort of a similar problem. my rear passenger side was higher than the driver side rear. at first it was like yours 3/4" higher. messing around, bouncing on the door sil, and leaving it sitting for a day or so got it down to 1/2". didn't like it and i took it all out and re-installed. further messing around i got down to 3/8" and called it quits, hoping it would settle to equal the other side. had it aligned. drove it around for a day and it dropped a hair more. hopefully in a week they'll be both the same...

have you moved the car or did you just sit it back down? if you haven't moved it yet try it, when you sit the car back down from being up the air the tires/wheels are generally inboard a little and cant return to their proper position until the car has been been rolled around a bit.

yea, be sure to let down the handbrake, take a spin then come backk.

Generally, springs will never be even. But, you got coilovers, dude. Just set them to even height even if their not even height on the coilovers.

Had to do that for my hatch. I have espelir springs on my s2k, and the driver side sits lower.

Did you load the suspension when tightening the bolts? I couldn't tell from your post if you said you did or not.

I did all of the above. The bolts were torqued to spec while the suspension was loaded. That car has since been driven for a shakedown run. No difference.

A friend told me to undo the rear sway bar and let the tension off of it. Then reattach it and see if that helps.

You need to adjust the height of the coilover assembly. They DO NOT need to be even for the car to be even. Most coilover guys and alignment shops will agree. Mine are not "even" but the car is. No adverse affect on handling b/c the weight is spread out evenly.

I have the same coilover assembly and I too had that problem. I just set the car level and have had zero problems. If you want to get more questions answered about the coilovers then go to this site - www.miraclegarage.com

I'm going to try unloading the sway bar first. If that doesn't help I will adjust the height accordingly.

Thanks gentlemen!

Thats what I had to do with my race specs. I was a good 3/4 inch higher on the driver side rear so I just compensated with the coilover adjustment and had aligned, good to go
