yeah all those ricer companies! SOS is making a hood damper that let you open your hood with one and and leave it open without a prop rod or anything. And they are refining other "rice" companies designs to avoid all the problems they mentioned. Weird, I thought the general consensus on "rice" was form over function? So these function better than the ones wrapped in carbon fiber? Ill take em! Learn about what youre talking about before you talk. Ill catch you at the next big burnout comp with your iroc
IT'S A HOOD.

it's not exactly a tricky object to work with, open, close.. lmao.
you can call it rice, or not rice.. at the end of the day some of you are forking over money for help with a hood.

How many times have you used one hand to pull the prop rod out of it's stock mount and move it to the service mount? it sucks. It's 50/50 you don't pop the rubber holder out and have to go looking for it under the car. I work on my engine A LOT, and this is the first set I've seen that I like. It's worth the money to me not to have to juggle the hood anymore.

Dammit! I just got the Tein ones yesterday. I waited two weeks for these things and they are not that great. They make the hood buldge a little they twist the hood when you try to close it because they are to stiff. I would have totally bought the SOS ones.

how do you close the hood? does dropping it from a couple inches still close it? or will the dampers have enough resistance to make me have to crush down on my poor hood?
The factory service manual indicates to drop the hood. However, I believe the proper way to close the hood (gas spring or not) is to lower it until the striker contacts the latch, then press the front down with your along the edge hand. This will make the striker and latch mechanism last the longest. This is even more so important with aftermarket composite hoods.

The front of the hood is well reinforced. It is built up much more so than the fenders and other panels (which I agree - do tend to dent easily).
