I've tried both and like the feel of the axialflow better. It does vibrate but I'm used to it and don't really notice anymore.

^I agree though, anyone who says it's a waste obviously hasn't tried one.

I think that only people who have one should have input. Ive never had it. But I am not going to tell you they are a waste. Sounds to me like everyone that has one likes it a lot. Go for it.

I wouldnt mind if the stock S2k shifter had a little less throw to it. Although I do appreciate the stock shifter and tranny. Coming from a modded accord, the s2k shifter throw feels a bit long imo, like before I could shift with my wrist, but now I kinda have to move my arm a little. Its all about personal preference imo. However, it is a lever, so if you decrease the throw, then your gonna increase effort.

I installed one and took it back off at the end of the day. Between the extra effort, raw feel, and loud buzzing it is not for everyone. Like I posted earlier, the counter sunk knob is a good substitute, shortening the throw a bit and retaining the quiet smooth operation.

I'd like to add that I did not notice any significant increase in shifting effort (force required to push the lever) -- AP1 transmission and AxialFlow. Like I said earlier, it does feel much more "mechanical" as if you can feel it clicking into place, but the effort to push it seemed the same or similar.

Quite a few people have reported otherwise, however. Physics also tells us that to accomplish the same leverage effort over a shorter distance, more force must be used, so obviously it must be "harder to push" but it's not like you're going to be straining yourself with a shorter throw.

It really all comes down to driving "feel," and of course your mileage may vary.

OK I've not experienced a short shifter but I agree with the comment about shifting with the wrist. My solution; change the shift boot to allow griping the lever lower on the shaft (like I tell chicks, work the shaft baby).

As a test, I removed the leather boot. With a Voodoo countersunk knob, I could flick the lever from gear to gear with just my fingers by holding it partially on the knob and partially on the shaft.

I'm looking to get an aftermarket boot which I'll mod to sit on the very bottom of the shift lever, just above the rubber boot (saving the OEM in the event I sell the car).

your right, it may be harder to push, but on this car it isnt very noticeable. however may give up some of the slickness that this cars tranny originally got praised for.
