well if you have doubts in your mind then i'd say that's reasonable reason to go HT. it's not like you're completely losing the softtop either...and patch it up like someone mentioned so you can have both.

honestly for me, if i were in your shoes i'd go w/ the st easy...but then i haven't owned the car too long so maybe the ht-syndrome didn't hit me yet..

I don't really know if it is a syndrome or not. It's a weird feeling. The car looks good with a HT, but then with top down it looks good. Its really confusing to me. I guess I need to pull my shit together and figure out what I want to do with the car in the long run. I imagine a HT will last longer than a ST . Again, like you said, I could just have both....

Maybe I'll just fork over the extra couple hundred and get the HT.

also i would just choke up 2500$ for a used OEM ht...i think they look the best, and probably have the best fitment (obviously). then again, it's all personal preference...

don't worry too much cause either way, you can't go wrong!

Look wise, hardtop without a doubt is better. But I can't stand not being able to top down. Sure you have options even with ht, but I don't remember you can remove it by yourself. It's not like there's always a person there to help you when you need to go top down.

That's my other problem. Some people say its easy to remove the HT, others say its time consuming.

S14 - I don't like the back window of the OEM HT, TBH I like the Mugen a lot better. 1) OEM costs WAY too much. 2) Mugen looks better and is cheaper. I havn't really heard that much about VIS Mugen fitment issues......

When my softtop tears, I plan on getting a hardtop and gut the softtop. go topless and be careful where you park

I don't think anybody has mention, that having a HT on preserves the life of the Soft top. So you can prevent soft top wear and tear by using a HT. My reasoning why I got the HT.

^That reason won't stop ppl who love top down from getting a ST. It all comes down to whether you enjoy top down or don't care much.

I don't know why you need a vote man. If you can live without going top down in a nice summer day, then just get the HT.

Sooo many opinions omfg!

Does the HT really take 10 seconds to remove? I thought I heard it was a bit of a PITA.... . Doesn't it have like 6 bolts?

I am kind of thinking HT is best of both worlds....since winter is coming it would be ideal. But I am trying to save to get this damn turbo put on finally. FFS so many things to do to this car, so little time.
2 front latches (identical to soft top)
2 rear levers (pull towards front to release)
1 defrost cable

It literally takes 10 seconds to undo that stuff. One person can remove it, I've done it and carried it up steps, but I'd recommend having a helping hand.
