Default test pipe, down pipe, catalytic converter...

can anyone give me some info on what is test pipe, down pipe, and what do i need to replace it after i take out the catalytic converter on my S2k so that the emission test will pass...

downpipe is part of a turbo setup. the test pipe is a straight, empty pipe that replaces the catalytic converter. once you take out the catalytic coverter you will not pass emissions.

Too bad I passed emissions in my state (Idaho) with turbo and no cat, guy said it was reading funny but passed ok! He never looked under the hood or under the car.

I passed with a test pipe a while back since all they did was pull the engine code to make sure there wasn't a CEL.

Same here. My last three cars have had no cat and I have had no problems passing emissions here in TN. As long as you don't have a CEL I think you would be okay.

they used the sniffer on our MDX i took in to get inspected, but they never used it when i took the S2000 the first time (i was stock catted then).
