Doing my install today. Got the Magic Mounts weather stripping from Pep Boys last night so I probably won't even bother with the one that comes with the top. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Best of luck to you!

Perhaps you'll be lucky like I was and your OEM stripping on the front will still be up to the job.

Keep us posted.

LGM, quick question, it may sound dumb but when I pulled up the VIS Hardtop on VIS racing its quotted price is $1300 does that price include the hardware kit? The reason Im asking is because many of the other sites selling similar hardtops do NOT come with the hardware kit. Thank you for your time, and your write-up. Your car looks great man!

You need to take it to a professional auto glass shop. If not installed right, it will fly out.

When I purchased mine directly from Andy @ VIS Racing, my top came with the plexiglass window as well as the hardware kit. If you want to upgrade to regular glass from the plexiglass it was an extra fee, but the top itself came with everything needed to install.

When my top was installed at the body shop after being painted, the shop called in a glass shop to do the install on to the top.

The hardware kit comes with the window molding, but obviously it needs to be installed professionally with everything that a typical glass shop would do when installing any kind of glass because as Spyder stated, the window will come out at high speeds if not secured in there professionally.

The rear window install is definitely something that I would suggest having a professional shop do if you don't have a lot of experience or know how dealing with these kind of glass style installs because it's definitely not something that you want to "cut corners" with so to say. Even once it's installed professionally you still need to be extremely careful with it, that is if you're friend has chosen to go with the plexiglass setup, if he wants to do regular glass, then you guys can either take the car with the top installed to a glass shop, or do like a trace of the windows dimensions and such and then take that tracing of it to the glass shop and they can custom make a full regular glass piece for you. The body shop told me that the glass guy said that doing such would probably costs roughly between $200-$300.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other issues or questions!
