Whatever you do, no big useless heavy chrome wheels.

Australian owners have a fetish for them and think it's the pinnacle of styling.

Nothing mentioned in this thread is really relevant to anything, IMHO. I can't think of ANY mod that wouldn't achieve something for someone.

However, for the most part, people that buy brake lines, drilled rotors, shock tower bars, chassis braces, and / or carbon fiber whatcha-mawhozits are just throwing their money away.

Well, all I can say is I upgraded to better brakes:
SS brake lines
Slotted rotors
Hawk HPS pads
Dot 4 Motul 600 fluid

I thought the same thing Nightcrawler thought until I drove my friends S(same year, same color)that had the stock brakes and started braking a little aggressively. Come to find out his ABS kicked in instantaneously and I felt the diminished braking compared to mine. I don't remember when the last time my ABS(yes my ABS works) kicked in. My car stopped much more smoothly and on a dime!

I was told to stay clear of the super blue fluid. It comes stock on Porsche's and the first thing the owners do is swap it out. Too many stories of the fluid going bad after 1 track day.

Why not try another DOT 4 brake fluid?

I also have a brand new ap1('02) flywheel sitting in the garage still packaged up and ready to install. Waiting for the car to hit 50k miles to install or when my clutch starts to give out. Was told by many that it will make a difference and be perfectly mated to the ap2 motor/tranny.
If you put the same tires, pads, and fluid in your friend's S2000, it would feel just like yours. The SS lines and slotted rotors make no difference. Some people would argue that they might be better on a track with full racing slicks, but it would be hard to quantify.

^^ Well the slotted rotors theory will be tested out because I will replace my slotted ones with oem rotors when my front pads wear out in in the next month or so. I don't really mind whether the SS lines work or not. I'd like to have the extra security that a stray rock or some other kind of debris won't puncture/damage the lines while on a canyon run. A hundred dollars for a piece of mind is worth it in my book.

imo, unless you're tracking your car where every single bit counts, most "performance" mods are useless.

only mods i see that are really worth while are tires, brakes, FI, intake exhaust headers WITH a proper tune.

IMO, the stock suspension on the S is more than capable at the track.

Why not? lots of people do.
Exactly. Battery weighs a lot, can get one for ~12lbs or so.

I uprated my brakes to SS lines, uprated pads and a master cylinder brace. The brakes are significantly better than stock, although I didn't think the stock set up was lacking.

Test pipe was the biggest PITA for me. The noise was to die for but the poor fuel economy, the smell and the smoke made me remove it - I miss the sound every day I drive through a tunnel in VTEC

The STB and the rear lower brace had a marginal if any effect, although the front lower brace makes a huge difference to steering feel.

Good thread

You can mod plenty of stuff, it's just that the differences can be quite insignificant on some parts.
