Default who has replaced your cat?

My check engine light is on and the code is telling me it's my cst. I'm getting around 20-24mpg and have 113k miles. Instead of going back to a stock cat, would there be any benefits in switching over to a testpipe? And would a test pipe trigger a check engine light? The only mod I have is an K&N Intake. Thanks!

You will need a cat if the state you live in does inspections. A testpipe is fine and usually gives you a teeny bit more power. The testpice may trigger a CEL but there are adapters for it (usually shipped with new testpipes) to help take care of that.

Test pipes stink. Really. A high flow cat will not, will give a bit more power than stock, and you'll feel better not polluting.

But it may not be your cat and may be your secondary O2 sensor that screws into the cat. Bad sensor will be bad even with a new cat

I would recommend the Berk HFC...no smell, sounds great and makes a little bit more power, no CEL.

And with a little work fitting some tabs the Berk will fit inside the headshields and not melt your carpet or wife.

Bolts right up to the manifold, assuming the bolts are not rusted too badly, and stock/aftermarket exhausts. We did two this month. Hardest parts are the tabs unless your exhaust is rusted too much then getting it off can be a real challenge.
